Significant clearance work is being carried out on Green Dale, which is scheduled to continue until 23rd September. FOG did not receive any notice that this was going to happen.
The work is being carried out by Hadley Property Group, acting on a letter from Southwark Property around a year ago which listed 17 points for action in order to comply with lease obligations. Hadley have informed FOG that this letter gave 23rd September 2014 as the deadline for completion. Hadley have said that they are carrying out the works as they wish to comply with the terms of the lease, which they are now applying for renewal of.
FOG is now in urgent discussions with Hadley and Southwark. We need to ensure that key habitats are protected, including areas for White Throat, hedgehogs and foxes, as well as frogs and the other wildlife mentioned in the ecological assessment and that no further work, other than litter clearance, is carried out without communication between the Parks Dept, Property Dept, FOG and Hadley.
